​​Brass @ Sibelius Academy is a new international education and concert event for brass instruments in Helsinki. It is organised for the 2nd time next summer (5-10 June 2017). The teachers and artists for the event include brass instrument teachers from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and a group of other internationally acclaimed brass instrumentalists.

In addition to master classes, the event will feature a high-level concert series in the concert halls of the Helsinki Music Centre and the Temppeliaukio Church.

These master courses are part of the studies of the Sibelius Academy students and they can attend the courses and concerts free of charge. 

The courses are also open for other Finnish and international music students and professionals. Sibelius Academy reserves the right to ​select the course participants amongst the applicants. The applicants who best meet our selection criteria, such as academic qualifications, will be given preference.

For anyone other than SibA students course fee for the week is 150 €. The fee includes teaching and a season ticket to all festival concerts. 

The jazz course with trombonist Marshall Gilkes will take place from Thu 8th to Sat 10th of June.

Lecture: "​Daily Routines and Improvisation Practice for the Contemporary Musician" (open to all brass players)

Fri 9.6. starting at 11:30

individual trombone students in a masterclass setting (open to public)

Sat 10.6. starting at 10

 trombone students playing with a small jazz combo (open to public)​. 

Max of 15 students will be accepted to this course. ​​​

Friday and Saturday timetables will be completed after the dealine for applications is over. 

After receiving an application, the collegium from the Sibelius Academy´s faculty of jazz music will consider it and decide on admission to the master course. 

We aim to inform all applicants of our decision on their application as quickly as possible byt not before .
